Regular workouts, walking meetings and a sound sleep of 6 hours makes the 68 year old iconic entrepreneur of Australia in the list of one of the fittest CEOs in the industry.

“I seriously doubt that I would have been as successful in my career (and happy in my personal life) if I hadn’t always placed importance on my health and fitness,” writes billionaire businessman and Virgin founder Richard Branson in a blog.

Branson’s day typically starts at 5 am and ends by 11 pm.

Once he wakes up, he is off to play tennis with somebody who’s better than him, which helps him to get better than them. Then, if the wind is up, he goes kitesurfing. He repeats this in the evening.

“The reason I like to wake up early is so that I can work through my emails before most of the world logs on,” Branson says. And, since he works half of the year away from the British Virgin Islands he prefers to be online early to be accessible and available to his office team in other time zones.

Branson thinks that Group dinners are “where stories are shared and ideas are born,” he mentions in his one of the blogs.

“I grab food when I can, normally scheduling a meeting over lunchtime,” writes the self- made billionaire in his blogs. He continues “I’m not a fan of formal meetings and would much prefer to lighten the mood with a shared meal, or if I’m pressed for time, a walking meeting.”

He goes to bed around 11:00 p.m. “I need around six hours sleep to do it all again — a little differently — the next day,” he says.

Up for fitness challenges

He sets an example by accepting fitness challenge anytime. He has done kitesurf, swim play tennis and even climbed mountains on the Virgin Strive Challenge.

Responding to a recent Plank contest live on breakfast television, Branson decided to up the ante and took his shirt off.

Branson believes that technology can actually make us fitter, and he attributes technology for his accelerated workout routine. He is now training to travel into space with Virgin Galactic.
