Everyone needs to figure out what drives them and it is important to identify your own fitness source, believes Brendan Wright.
For many people, their source of wellness and happiness is their relationships with their family and close friends.
As CEO of Australian mortgage aggregation group, FAST, Wright feels proud to share that he uses milestone events in his family and friends to engage them in various fitness activities. He finds it exciting to combine the two most important passions in his life to achieve a bigger goal of well-being.
Pedal power: Brendan’s fitness ride
Wright began cycling around 30 years ago to stay fit in the football off-season, and it has now become a major part of his life.
He has participated in RideWest on a few instances, which is a 1,200-kilometre bike ride over seven days across Queensland from Brisbane to Longreach. Such ride was also done for a noble cause by which he along with his team have raised a lot of money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Wright has also done plenty of long bike rides, runs and Ironman events. He thinks one can be more active and energetic if a workout or any fitness activity is done along with family, peer group or loved ones. He has spent a lot of time with his daughter and family for Marathon training sessions. He also did a half marathon together with his daughter few years back.
Self determination is the ultimate motivation
Wright always chooses to be competitive and pushes himself while training hard for any event. He emphasises on balancing stress and pressure. He sticks with his training regime to de-stress. Good nutrition to de stress and detox his body are also part of his training regime.
A leader should spread the message of well-being
According to Wright, a leader should also spread the message of well- being to co-workers at the workplace. He is very passionate to help his employees, not only as a business owner but more importantly as people to lead a healthy lifestyle.
He is running a team of confidential counselling and assistance services, which is available to FAST employees. This support helps business owners, themselves or their employees, to work through challenging times within their lives.
